Thrown large mugs are approximately 7" tall and 4" in diameterD.K. Clay of North Carolina is one of the largest studios around in a state famous for its pottery. Don Hudson and Kenneth Neilsen have over fifty years of pottery making experience between them. They have tested clay, glaze, and firing combinations exhaustively. Specializing in high-fired stoneware, D.K. Clay produces a wide variety of functional shapes in exciting vivid glaze effects. D.K. Clay pottery is meant to be used. All glazes are food safe and contain no lead. D.K. Clay pottery can be used in the microwave. It can take the heat of oven baking, but avoid thermal shock. D.K. Clay "turns" its pottery by hand on a spinning wheel, makes some pieces in a "pottery press" under tremendous pressure, and others are cast into handmade pottery molds. Fired at temperatures ranging up to 2400 degrees, D.K. Clay pottery is tough and durable.
