DOLFI Made in Italy Wooden Handmade WARRIORS CHESS SET with ANRI Wooden Board This was an estate sale purchase. The daughter of the sellers told me this was her grandfather’s chess set. I do not know when it was purchased but I was forced to pick a date range as an eBay chess category. The set may be older than the category identifies. The set included a brochure that was in German, implying that the chess set was purchased in Europe. On the Dolfi web site I found that this set is called the Warriors Chess set, Product Code 1551600. This set comes in the Colored version and the Natural version, and comes in two heights: 4.72 inches and 6.30 inches. The set being offered in this auction is the 4.72 inch Natural version. This chess set has a listed price of $1510.80 on the Dolfi Web site. The figures of this Dolfi chess set are hand carved wooden sculptures, each with its own identity and each slightly different from the others. They are produced in Ortisei in Val Gardena in the Dolomites in South Tyrol by the Dolfi’s most experienced sculptors, the masters of their woodworking enterprise. The set will be mailed with the wooden chess board that I purchased with the chess set. The board is 21 by 21 inches and has an ANRI sticker on the bottom.
