Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock & Key and Tray This is a cute refinished little dome top steamer trunk or stagecoach trunk with patent dates on some of the hardware. The front latches are patented, "Pat Jul 9 72," which refers to July 9, of 1872. Some of the cap metal on the slat boards have patent dates. It looks to be, "Pat Mar 16 80", which refers to March 16 of 1880. The wooden components consist of pine base wood and oak or ash outer slat boards. The wooden surfaces have been sanded and finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. T are some typical nicks and dings in the wood. These beauty marks are part of this trunk's long history and give to it's overall antique appearance. The original lock was missing, so we have put a working replacement lock on this trunk that comes with a key. are the trunk's measurements: from left to right across the front is 26 inches, from floor to top of dome is approximately 19 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. The side handles were missing, so we have replaced them with nice Amish made black leather stitched straps. All of our replacement leather for these beautiful trunks that we refinish comes from an Amish man in an Amish community in Pennsylvania. This would make a very nice storage chest for collectibles or any personal belongings. read more
