Very rare original signed and dated abstract expressionist oil painting by Don Fink, 1951. Framed. Don Fink (American born 1923) Don Fink is a well known and well listed Abstract Expressionist who studied at the ASL and the Academie Julien. He was born in Duluth, Minnesota, but later moved to Europe where he established himself as an artist. He was first based in Paris where he was a member of the "Jeune Ecole de Paris" (with Appel, Debre, Hundertwasser, Tapies, Dumitresco, Messagier, Zanartu , etc.) and later moved to Barcelona. This painting is in excellent condition and measures 22" by 26" (in frame measures 24" x 28"). It is signed and dated (1951) lower right. Don Fink is a well collected, exhibited, and listed artist with auction records to $24,000. Provenance: from a Minnesota estate. This piece is especially rare since it is from his American period, before moving to Europe. A large retrospective of his earlier works was held in Madrid in 1998: "Don Fink Returns to Madrid": American "action" painter Don Fink (b. Duluth, Minnesota, 1923) has a show at Galería Rayuela through September 25. The artist divides his time between Barcelona, Paris, and New York. This is his second exhibition in Madrid in four years.
