My favorite sorts of Ebay auctions to bid on are lots of multiple related items. It can be a lot of fun winning a whole group of interesting, varied artwork....so today, I offer you that chance!This is a large grouping of working DISNEY PRODUCTION ARTWORK from the Disney artist Pat Block, and his writing partner Shelly. This artwork mostly dates through the 1990's, It includes images of DONALD DUCK and UNCLE SCROOGE, a MICKEY MOUSE cover image, and Donald's JUNIOR WOODCHUCK nephews HUEY, DEWEY and LOUIE.In short, t is something for everyone T are ten pieces to this auction. Each is photographed. The two comics are in NM shape and are signed by the artist with a sketch. They are actually quite hard books to find. is a list of the varied production artwork you get in this auction. Some of the production art has various degrees of handling and corner bends, as one might expect with artwork used in making comics. 1. An ORIGINAL PENCIL drawing of MICKEY MOUSE that went into making the cover for Gladstone Publishing's DONALD DUCK and MICKEY MOUSE #3 from Jan. 1996. Pat Block has only drawn a couple of Mickey covers, so this is quite scarce. It is drawn on translucent paper. The drawing measures 7" by 9" and Mickey fills the paper. The piece is signed by the artist. 2. The actual issue for the above art, Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse #3. Signed with a sketch. 3. One page COMPLETE Junior Woodchuck's PENCILED GAG PAGE, featuring Huey, Dewey and Louie and Donald Duck. This is a quite detailed piece, drawn for the European Disney Publishers. Dated June 1997, and entitled "GOOD DEEDS", this neatly drawn page is complete with dialogue balloons and sound effects, and shows just how the Block's work in submitting their pencilled work to the European publisher, who had these stories inked out of a studio in Barcelona. Drawn slightly larger than printed comic size, on fairly heavy bright cheddar colored paper. Signed by Pat Block. Little "Junior Woodchuck's" logo is hand drawn as well. Nice condition. 4.-6. is a look at the intimate working methods of the team of Pat and Shelly Block. Shelly's 90's way of working was to bang out high speed, stream of consciousness scripts sans much punctuation on an old fashioned typewriter. are two pages of single spaced, quite wonderfully characterized ideas for one of her very funniest tales, called "The Truth Hurts". Donald, sick of telling fibs, is hypnotized to tell only the truth. His sarcastic nature gets him into horrific trouble with fat old ladies and ugly babies. His treatment of his beloved, Daisy, is not much better, when she wears clothes he finds less than wonderful. Along with these two pages from Shelly is Pat Block's intial construction of the first six pages of this eleven page final story. We get to compare Shelly's initial ideas with Block's staging of the events in panel form. Most of the eventual final dialogue is presented in these tiny little expressive thumbnails drawn by Block. Really a wonderful example of this pair of artists working methods. Block's thumbnails are tiny, but just about everything in the final story is expressed , in it's original concept. Drawn on graph paper, see pictures. This story was published by Egmont Publishing throughout much of the world, and may also have appeared in the USA under Gemstone's banner more recently. I find it one of this couples most amusing shorter tales. 7.-9. Painting concepts. Two drawings for a large Uncle Scrooge MONEY BIN piece, featuring that miser Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck and Huey, Dewey and Louie. Both are small, one in blue pencil, one more finished in graphite and color pencils. Titled "Saturday's Sapphire Shower". The third drawing is also a painting concept, featuring an onld fashioned Mickey, Goofy and Donald, with notes and thoughts all in pen. Quite rough and just ideas jotted down really, but neat to see how artist's construct paintings. All three pieces are signed by Pat Block. 10.
