Here are 2 very nice Dorchester Pottery chambersticks decorated with the pinecone and blueberry patterns. Dorchester Pottery Works was founded in 1895 by George Henderson in Dorchester, MA, part of the city of Boston. They introduced the blue and white dinnerware in 1940 right around the time the nearby Dedham Pottery stopped, and continued to produce pottery until 1979. They measures 5 7/8 inches in diameter (blueberry) and 6 1/8 inches (pinecone), and about 2 1/2 inches high to the top of the handle. They are signed on the bottom by the artists C.A.H. and E.H.H., for Charles Allen Hill and Ethel Hill Henderson, husband of Charles and the sister of the founder, and N. (Nando) Ricci, the potter . They are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs, just a little clay shrinkage where the handles are attached. Beautiful pieces of blue & white stoneware. If you have any questions please click on our username or visit our store page and feel free to email through the gallery or call Jim Messineo at JMW Gallery.
