DOROTHY LAMOUR 1939 "Man About Town" 8.5"x11" keybook silver-gelatin photo S228An original keybook still (8 1/2" x 11"), DOROTHY LAMOUR, beautiful, rare hairdress shot. Publicity photo for the 1938 film comedy "TROPIC HOLIDAY" which starred Dorothy Lamour and Martha Raye.Back of photo has a blue date stamp 'APPROVED Mar 30, 1938 , Hollywood'. Photo also has a typed snipe on the back which discusses the new hairdress Dorothy Lamour introduced in the film TROPIC HOLIDAY (A center part, sleek, and low-coiled knot are important features of the coiffure which was arranged by Leonora Sabine, Paramount studio hair supervisor....".This photo is on double-weight paper and is a silver-gelatin print. Silver-gelatin prints utilized the reaction which occurred between silver salts and light to print images from film onto specially treated paper. This process was widely adopted in the 1890s and remained popular, especially in art photography, until film photography was largely replaced by digital photography.The photo has four punch holes on top (common for keybook stills, see description below) and otherwise is in near mint condition.ABOUT KEYBOOK STILLS: Keybook stills were taken during every aspect of a film's creative process.
