Offering an exquisite hand-painted mechanical horizontal double pulling lever action magic lantern slide. There are two glass plates, one on the front and the other on the back that slide back and forth with brass pulls. In this instance the scene is a village fire with one sliding glass plate showing the fire department coming to the rescue and the other glass plate showing the residents and animals leaving the scene of the fire. As you pull the glass slides the figures move along the foreground in front of the fire. In a wood frame with brass pulls that slide in and out. Frame has a partial label of the manufacture as follows, "Aux Enfants Sages Guiton Fabt. Brevete S.G.D.G. Passage Jouffrey, 13, 15, 17, Jouets D'Enfants Jeux de Societe." There is also a hand-written label as follows, "Incendie sans un village pres de Chalon -s-Saome." The lever action is fully operational and in very good condition. The glass slide with the fire department has a crack that has been taped over with scotch tape at lower right. The slide measures 15 by 4 1/2 inches.
