RARE Collection of FLOW BLUE DOUGLAS PATTERN FOOTED COVERED VEGETABLE SERVING BOWL DISH FORD & SONS circa 1893 - 1907 CLASSIFICATION : FLOW BLUE, Dark deep coloring Piece Description : FOOTED 2 HANDLE SERVING BOWL DISH W/ LID Size : 11 1/2" handle to handle x 8" approx 6" table to highest point with lid PATTERN: DOUGLAS Manufacturer : BLUE RIBBON BACKSTAMP - F & Sons above ribbon DOUGLAS pattern name in ribbon BUNSLEM with blue x below Additional markings - Written in the pottery under the glaze ON BOTH THE LID AND THE BOWL is the number 53 CONDITION: I would consider this piece in outstanding condition NO CHIPS NO CRACKS NO REPAIRS Age appropriate glaze skips, glaze pops, inclusions, and stilt or sagger pin marks. I don't know how much Gold gilding t was originally but t are areas (especially around the handles) that are worn as shown in the photos. Since this piece shows only signs of gentle use - this could be the way it came or from washing over the years. You be the judge. No crazing in the bowl The lid has crazing LID fits snug Under close inspection you will see a hairline in the valley at the top of the handle I have tried to show this in the photos The last photo shows this dish with a large matching 10 x 13 tray that I have listed seperately. This auction is for the bowl and lid only. I am helping a gentleman liquidate his grandparents estate and it is chuck full of flow blue in every shape and size imaginable. They were a prominent Minneapolis couple that originated in Kentucky and then moved to Minneapolis. This and several other boxes I have unpacked were kept in a Climate Controlled storage since at least 1961, so don't miss out on this opportunity to get ahold of a hard to find fantastic piece of authentic flow blue. NOTE: I will be leaving on vacation Feb. 12th. returning on March 12th. Cleared payment must be recieved by Feb 10th.
