Up for Auction... We have a very unique 15 inch tall ROYAL DOULTON KEROSENE LAMP with TWO WICKS This duplex, or two flat wick, kerosene lamp is made to Doulton's strict standards. The bottom of the piece is stamped Watteau Doulton Burslem England. It is also impressed with Doulton L2 75. It is painted with 1882-??9. A lowercase letter u is imprinted on the base. The scene hand painted on the base is of a young lady who is seated in a garden. Two men with musical instruments are stnding close by. You can see beautiful trees, flowers and columns . The second scene on the larger portion of the lamp is that of two young ladies who are also being woed by the young men with instruments, but you can see what seems to be the grim reaper standing in the bushes and trees. The details on this are gorgeous. Dimensions are: Base diameter 7 1/2 inches; height of base 10 1/4 inches; top opening is 6 inches. It measures 8 1/2 inches from handle to handle. When assembled it stands a pleasing 15 inches tall. The piece has no chips but one of the handles has been repaired. I have taken a picture to show the repair. This piece displays beautifully even with the flaw. Considering its age, it is in remarkable condition Most of the items that we are listing are from 1880s - 1930s.
