Dr. Herwig Steiner was a Professor and Doctor of Philosophy. He made pipes as a hobby and was an expert in Egyptology and old cultures such as early China. He died last year and his collection of pipes are being sold for a client who lives overseas and purchased these pipes directly from Dr. Steiner's widow. His pipes boast beautiful grain patterns, are made with a pre-carb that is unusually thick and readily absorb heat, and the stems are made of vulcanite. All Dr. Helwig Steiner pipes bear his last name on the wood, the number (stamped on most, but not all of his pipes) indicates the sequence of make and a Chinese symbol. UNSMOKED! - This particular Steiner is a nose warmer. The stem is vulcanite with a brass dot logo on the top and it bears no blemishes. The bowl base is flat making this a perfect sitter pipe. The tenon is made to accept a 9 MM filter, if desired. Approximate measurements: 4-3/4 x 2-1/2 x 1-1/4 inches. The chamber width is .75 of an inch. Weight is exactly 90.7 grams.
