It depicts the amazing drangonfly species and particularly it honors the Blue-eyed Hawker. The coin reverse depicts a splendid coloured dragonfly, on left side the total representation of an insect while it's on the grass, the legend "AESHNA AFFINIS" and the year of issue. The coin obverse depicts the Palau State Coat of Arms. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY DRAGONFLY AESHNA AFFINIS The Southern Migrant Hawker or Blue-eyed Hawker (Aeshna affinis) is a dragonfly found in southern Europe and Asia. As its name suggests the male has blue eyes and also blue marking on the abdomen.It is characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, and an elongated body.
