Cinette Robert does not create modern Dubey & Schaldenbrand timepieces to be flashy. Like the expert in vintage watches herself, the timekeepers of the sixty two year old company have until now displayed a quiet elegance that reveals special characteristics only when one knows where to look. D&S time pieces are crafted inside and out with respect to the tradition of the finest Swiss watchmaking; each movement receiving anachronistic attention to detail. Each piece is individually engraved by her majesty, making every timepiece by Dubey & Schaldenbrand one of a kind. Look at the master engraving of her Dual Sixty, a dual gold - rotored gem that sports a full functioning GMT. The hand - engraving of these rotors requires that the piece be taken apart, with the bridge separated from the components that are usually found secured to it. Then the miniscule parts are embedded in a wax - like substance to protect them while the master cuts patterns into them of extreme intricacy. The engravings are carried out according to the inspiration and creativity of the engraver doing the work, making each piece unique. An Iphone's camera simply cannot do justice to the complexity of this work. Once the artwork is complete, the pieces are polished and reassembled before undergoing adjustment and testing to ensure the perfect working order of the now very beautiful movement, the lavish attention to detail now visible for all to admire through the sapphire crystal of the exhibition back. The Duo Sixty ( Ref #ADUOS/RG/SIG ) that you see here is one of sixty such pieces in the world ( hence the name ) and houses complications that you may actually use. Its functions include hours, minutes, sweep seconds, large date, second time zone and an additional 24 hour time display. Four of the seven hands on the watch are Blued; the polished steel are heated to 290 degrees C, at which point the steel turns a beautiful blue shade; de riguer for classic Swiss and Glashutte watchmaking. The main hands are rose gold. The piece sports the highest grade ETA Valjoux movement available, all housed within a large, but not obnoxious 33x44mm 18k rose gold case. Included with your purchase is an extra Dubey & Schaldenbrand light brown crocodile strap, which completely changes the look of the watch and all appropriate papers of authenticity. Also included is a large, polished custom - made burl oak collector's box with a lock an key; absolutely stunning, itself a $2500 value, ideal for storing your high end timepieces. The box once contained five other D & S timepieces, all limited editions, such as the Gran'Chrono Astro, the Aerochrono, the George Dubey Edition, et. al The Duo Sixty has always been my favorite due to the beautiful guilloche that surrounds the subdials. The pattern seems almost to be that of a quilted fabric and, as of yet, I have never been able to find such work on any other watch. Again, I must apologize for the poor quality of the pics.
