B-11 Description You are viewing a most attractive example of bone china teaware that will delight our collectors We are offering a Tea Trio with matching Bread Plate Crafted By: Duchess Origin: England Date: circa 1885 Rare Example from the: Victorian era Moulded Colourway: Golden blush Pattern: Floral pattern Rim: Gilded Breakfast tea trios have a larger sized teacup that standard examples. Traditionally served to the gentleman of the household, the offered a larger serving of reviving brew before embarking on the business of the day. Measurements Teacup: Just under 3 inches in height. Saucer: 6 inches in diameter Plate: 7 inches in diameter. Bread Plate: 9 inches in diameter Condition Report There are no chips and no cracks. No crazing. There is rubbing to the gilding on the rims. Background Information: The custom of drinking tea became a British institution when the Victorians took to serving it every afternoon in the parlour - until 1800 it had been customary to drink tea after dinner.
