These two shell fragments are nearly 3 inches thick and were fired from one of the famous Rodman 15 inch guns that were mounted on one of the Union ironclads. These fragments came from shells that weighed in at a whopping 330 pounds!!! There were very few 15 inch shell shot during the war so these pieces are rare! They have been cleaned and clear coated, and retain only a small amount of rust in the creases of the fragments. They were found in Richmond and were fired during the Bermuda Hundred campaign. These would make great paperweights or the centerpiece of an artillery collection. Don't miss out on your chance to own a piece of real Civil War "Heavy Artillery" If Buy it Now is used I will throw in a smaller uncleaned fragment for free. Posted with eBay Mobile
