Offered for auction is one of the nicest dug examples of an Alabama “Map on Tree” Confederate Local Coat Button that I have ever come across. This 22mm dug coat button is listed in Albert’s button book as an AB7B and in Tice’s button book as an AB204A1. This button was part of the Bob Edmondson collection. The button is solid as a rock with an absolutely perfect upright shank. On the map you can still make out the lettering “ALABAM” which is usually not discernible on most of these buttons. This button has one of the nicest slick dark chocolate patinas you could hope for with a small amount of gold gilt remaining in the recesses along the top edge of the rim and in the channel on the back of the button. There are no pushes or repairs whatsoever and I guarantee this button for life to be genuine and as described. They just don't turn up in this kind of condition very often. I am uncertain as to where this button was dug but the soil was extremely nice and gentle to it. Try finding another example in this kind of condition, at any price. If you have any questions or would like additional pics please email me. Winning bidder is to pay for auction within 7 days after end of auction. Button will be shipped by USPS Priority Mail Insured with Delivery Confirmation. Email me with any questions or for any additional pics. Good luck bidding!!
