This is an elaborate three-volume set of booksdescribing and illustrating the entire estate of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (the former King of England prior to WWII who abdicated the throne to marry the divorced American, Mrs. Simpson). The date given on the books is for a September 1997 sale, but that was delayed until February 1998 due to the tragic deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed. Mohamed Al Fayed (father of Dodi Fayed) was the consignor of this huge collection of the Duke and Duchess, who had resided in Paris and willed their entire estate to charity, which was administered by Al Fayed. There are three softcover volumes in the slipcased set. The thinnest (70 pages) is titled Information; then the two thick ones are for The Public Collection (549 pages) and The Private Collection (541 pages). They are beautifully illustrated, much in full color. It is said to be the greatest accumulation of royal possessions ever to be offered at auction, providing a rare and privileged glimpse into the lives and tastes of two legendary figures. These catalogues cost $110.00 when they were mailed out for the auction. The Box is very grubby and taped, all 3 catalogues are in excellent condition ! PLEASE NOTE : This is a heavy set of books weighing about 11 pounds, and will exceed the $4 maximum amount allowed by eBay read more
