DUKE OF WELLINGTON CIRCA 1852 - VICTORIAN PARIAN BUST CIRCA 1852. Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, KG, GCB, GCH, PC, FRS (1 May 1769 – 14 September 1852), was a British soldier and statesman, a native of Ireland from the Anglo-Irish Ascendancy and one of the leading military and political figures of the 19th century. He is often referred to as "the Duke of Wellington", even after his death, when there have been subsequent Dukes of Wellington. Made by Victorian Potters John Rose & Co and impressed marking Josh Pitts SC, London 1852 across back. Impressed 3 inside of attached socle base. In excellent condition without chips cracks or firing flaws, measuring 9.5 inches tall and 6 inches at widest part across shoulders. The Parian Phenomenon by Richard Dennis refers to this John Rose bust of the Duke of Wellington at page 244 Figure 819. I will post to USA, Australia and Europe, .
