This is a new old stock miners oilwick cap lamp, that was made by " dunlap's pittsburgh " about 1900. The lamp comes without a wick; it has never been used , has a very shiny silver coloured plating (don't know what material it is, it does not look like tin, more than nickel) and is in near mint condition with only a few dark spots. The lamp stands 2 ½ ins. (6,5 cm) high and has a diameter of about 1 ¼ ins. (3,5 cm) at the base. Along with the lamp comes it's original box . The box is not in a very good condition: 4 sides look well, but two sides are broken due to the brittleness of the old cardboard. Some old repair has been done on the inside; I didn't dare to do more repair and will leave this to the new owner. The pieces, that are broken off, are still present (they look to be complete) so that a good restauration is possible. Key words: miners lamp, mining lamp, oilwick lamp, cap lamp, lampe de mineur, lampe de mine, Grubenlampe, Kopflampe, Hutlampe, Kopfschelle. Take your chance to get this beautiful near mint oilwick along with it's original box! Have a look on my other items and save on shipping, good luck bidding, thanks Hajo
