Due to a misunderstanding, this drawing is the subject of relisting. Recently, we managed to buy a small collection of Dutch 18th century genredrawings, mostly by the same artist.For sale is this fine genrescene, executed in pencil on laid watermarked 18th century paper. The drawing depicts a man pulling a boat, situated in a Dutch riverlandscape. Authorship : the drawing is from the Dutch school, signed on the backside "C. du Bois". This is the signature of the Dutch artist Christien "Chrétien" de Bois. CHRISTIEN "CHRETIEN" DU BOIS (Amsterdam 1765 - Amsterdam 1837) : Active in Amsterdam during the last quarter of the 18th and early 19th century. Pupil of Marinkelle and Andriessen. Teached at the Academy and is known as a painter of animated landscapes and as a talented draughtsman. Listed artist.Period : the drawing should be dated in the last quarter of the 18th century.Backside : study of a hand (possibly by the same artist).Size of the drawing : 31,2x19,9cm.Condition : good.
