The 83rd Infantry Division was activated for WW II service on August 15, 1942, and, after extensive training, was sent to the European Theater of Operations (ETO). The 83rd was awarded five battle stars for the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland and Central Europe. The 83rd Infantry Division was awarded seven Distinguished Unit Citations and one Congressional Medal of Honor. The 83rd served for 244 days in combat. This DVD was made using maps, division histories, many signal corps photographs, military props, military music, order of battle, casualties, division commanders and material from many other sources including German. At the end of the DVD are some short WW II training films produced by the U. S. Army, and the total running time is approximately two hours.
