Very rare 'DW' speedboat. Made in the Meccano factory in Liverpool in the 30's but not by Hornby. So is basically the ' Hornby' speedboat renamed 'Diana' 43cm. Motor works. Generally in good sound condition. Missing 2 air vents and windscreen. 'DW' also made a similar boat called the 'Sea Spray' Correction The meccano 'Hornby' speedboat is different to this in that the cockpit and motor cover are in two separate compartments in the Hornby boat.. So although very similar, this is a different boat to the Meccano 'Hornby'. As you can see the cockpit and motor cover are one detachable piece in this 'Diana' boat. I suppose making this a very rare boat. The name is in the same position as on the 'DW' 'sea-spray' - on the deck rather than the hull. Photo 7 is a similar boat named 'Silver- Spray' by the same makers - possibly repainted. I have also uploaded a photo of a red Meccano speedboat with the name 'Hornby' on the hull at the front for comparison, both boats being the same length. Figure 9 is the Silver Spray - also by DW
