Very Nice E.G. Webster & Son silverplate brides basket with cranberry swirled glass insert. E.G. Webster & Son was established in New York 1860, became E.G. Webster & Brother in 1867, and eventually, like all the rest was eventually sold to the International Silver Co. in the 1927. The brides basket is marked on the bottom E.G. Webster & Son, NY and has the number 100. The brides basket stands on four ornately scrolled legs. The base w the insert sits features a delicate motif of flowers and vines. Rising up from the this area the basket's handle arcs over the insert. It too is covered with flowers on a vine. The basket stands 12 1/2 inches tall and is 9 inches wide from handle to handle. Excellent condtion, with no damage. The cranberry swirled art glass insert is rich in color and and the white running through the outside simply accentuates the deep cranberry coloring. The insert is 8 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage. I'm not positive the brides basket and insert were originally paired together, something about the way the bowl sits in the basket makes me think they were married at some point. But they do look very well together. Check out my other auctions for more brides baskets, some wonderful R.S. Prussia and soon to be listed silverplate pickle castors with inserts read more
