This auction is for what I believe to be a late 19th century (possiblyearlier) Fraternal / Ceremonial Sword. It looks similar to a field or staffofficer's sword of the time. I can't tell you what organization it belonged to butI'm sure the photo will help to identify it. The sword measures 34 ½ inches end to end and the blade is 28 ¼ inches long. It has a straight, doubled-edged, nickel-plated blade with no makers mark. The hilt and guard are brass and highly decorated with floral and biblical designs. The pommel has an eagle on one side and a floral design on the other. It has a leather covered wire wrapped handle. The sword has a nice patina and has never been cleaned. The scabbard is clean and has one small dent on the back side. It has much of its original finish and is free of rust. It has a cross with garnets inside a crown on top, a floral design with what looks like interlocking letter in the mid-section, and the drag has a shield with swords and pike (please see photos). This will make a very nice addition to any sword collection! Please see my other auctions for more quality items! Please use your knowledge of these items and the pictures to determine your bid and value.
