The item for bid is an Amber Early American Pattern Glass High Standard Compote w/Lid in the #796 "ROPE AND THUMBPRINT or INVERTED ROUND" pattern that was made by the Central Glass Co. beginning in 1885. The piece has wonderful clarity and pattern detail, and is in EXCELLENT USED CONDITION with the only visible defect being a tiny chip on two (2) of the ribs on the top of the hexagon shape lid finial (see last photo for largest chip that is the size of a match head). It measures 10-1/4" tall to the top of the lid finial, 6-1/2" tall to the scalloped top rim of the bowl, the lid rim is 6-1/4" diameter, 7-3/8" diameter across the top rim, and the foot is 4-3/8" diameter.
