I offer for sale a wonderful example of Antique Fostoria Glass syrup or honey cruet or pitcher with the original lid. This example of EAPG was one of Fostoria's earliest specialty pieces. Circa 1888. This HONEY PITCHER or JAR is in Fostoria's elegant "Cascade" pattern. Fostoria Glass was established in 1887 and one of its early patterns was called Cascade. This hand blown pitcher measures 4 1/4 inches tall without the lid and 5.5 inches tall with the lid. The measurement at to the top of the handle is 4" wide across spout-to-handle x 3 3/4 inches across the body, with glassmaker's pontil mark on the bottom. It's in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with no damages on the pitcher. The stopper or lid has some roughness on the inside rim, but no chips or crack or repairs. There are the usual old mould marks from the glassmaking process, like bubbles, swirls/striations, straw marks, mould seam roughness, all of these characteristics are inherent to antique glass. A fabulous 132 year-old Fostoria find, and a specialty piece of antique glass that is seldom seen. This pitcher is often identified as being made by the H Wichert Company in Chicago. However this is incorrect, Fostoria manufactured this Cascade pattern and sold to the H Wichert as an advertising giveaway. The H Wichert Company was a general store in Chicago in the 1890's.
