I am no expert in this field my description is based on my knowledge of the casting, the gilding (what is left), The wooden hand made cross and the original fixings used A Rare Early 1800's ( Possibly Georgian)INRI Scull & Bones Gilded Brass Altar Crucifix. The quality cast brass or bronze cross is fixed to a wooden backing which is attached to the wooden base.It stands approx 385mm (15") Tall x 185mm (7.1/4") wide, the base is 100mm (4") square. It is in very good condition considering age although to be fair the gilding is rather rubbed, through cleaning.
