Up for auction is this little 2 7/8" mini stoneware crock with a salt glaze and beautiful blue slip which was all hand done. This little crock was dug from a local dump about 3 months ago, when my husband and I were digging for old bottles. It was totally encrusted with mud and earth when it rolled out of the shovel, that I did not really know it was anything until I washed it off in a nearby stream that was running through this dump area. To say the least I was really amazed that it was in such excellent condition. Most of the pieces of shards we pulled out were all broken of course, but many crocks, with deep blue and writing on them, and yet none intact. But this little guy survived for at least 90 to 100 years in the ground. T is no hairline cracks, and color is still very vibrant. And t are no Chips or chunks missing. The lip has roughness all the way around, but this is to be expected for its age. It really does not detract from this little gem. If you collect the Big Stoneware Crocks, and jugs, than this is a must for any collector. It is a very cute and decorative piece. I am offering this item with NO RESERVE and a Low starting bid. Lucky winner to pay SHI. I DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS. Thank you. I will contact the winning bidder and give all information needed to complete the sale when the auction ends.
