Up for auction is this beautiful ANTIQUE ORNATE GILDED BRASS POWDER BOX with a lovey VICTORIAN LADY PORTRAIT on the top. This BEAUTIFUL piece is from the EARLY YEARS of the 20th CENTURY MARKED "P.N.C.W. ---- MADE IN U.S.A." on the bottom of the brass base. The gorgeous intricate and very ornate GILDED BRASS BASE has three feet and the top has two handles all of which have the fancy ornate design. The top has what I believe is a CELLULOID DETAILED PORTRAIT OF A VERY PRETTY VICTORIAN LADY framed in the GILDED ORNATE BRASS and then followed by a soft custard cream celluloid area once again framed in the fancy brass work with the two handles. The gilded brass design consists of embossed braids, flowers, scroll work etc.T is wear on the CELLULOID PORTRAIT VICTORIAN LADY CAMEO FACE with cracking and age stains of some type etc. Please refer to my pictures. I think they will give you a very good idea. Still retains its striking beauty! The brass is really in very good condition with typical tarnish but no dents or anything major. Really quite good. Nice heavy piece too!I believe these ANTIQUE POWDER BOXES originally had a glass divided insert bowl. I purchased this at an Estate Sale and it did not come with that. It just caught my eye. You can easily put a bowl or dish inside to replace it otherwise, just some type of insert, so it is able read more
