DESCRIPTION Offered for your consideration is an extremely RARE early 19th. Century, ca.1825, Bristol Pottery Marriage Barrel hand painted, possibly by William Fifield, with two beautiful roses, one tulip and what looks to be a variety of daisy. Above and below the flowers are alternating reddish brown and pink bands. The top and bottom are also decorated with the same colorful bands that encircle the Barrel. CONDITION The Barrel is in first-rate condition with only one pin head size chip to the enamel and three tiny areas of paint loss around the opening. T are no other chips, cracks, hairlines, signs of restoration or manufacturers marks. On either side of the opening are the initials L (?) and H hand painted in script. DEMINSIONS This exceptional Barrel is approximately 4 & 1/4 inches high with a base diameter of approximately 2 & 3/4 inches. PROVENANCE Formerly with Earle Vandekar of Knightsbridge, New York (Mr. Vandekar noted that he has only seen 3 or 4 of these Barrels over the past forty years)
