Superb, early sixth plate Daguerreotype featuring a young gentleman, elegantly dressed. He is looking rather intensely at the camera, and he is wearing a dark jacket and striped vest and bow tie. A paper lining on case behind the image reads: "Manufactured at the Plumbe National Daguerreian Dept. New York", which leads to think the image is by photographer and gallerist John Plumbe .The image is sharp and detailed, with an overall gray/blueish tonality. There's tarnish around edges. Otherwise, in nice condition. The brass matt is simple, with an octagonal window, in fine condition. The daguerreotype is housed in a full leather case, with an elaborate pattern on the top cover only. The interior panel is lined in dark red velvet. The case shows some wear, surface rubbing and small chip on top right corner. Please see images for condition. Please see the other daguerreotypes that I am selling this week. I'll combine shipping for multiple items bought. Shipping & Handling: $3 in the US; $18 worldwide.
