Early C19th, C1820 Spode, Transfer Printed Blue & White Pearlware, Greek Pattern, Lozenge Shaped Dish. Lovely Dish, now reproduced in the Spode Blue Room Range. This is an original, dating from between 1800-1820. It is in good used condition, whilst the wire hanger has resulted in four tiny frits to the rim and one to the raised footrim, it has protected it from the some of the rigours of use, there are still some surface scratches to the central cartouche. There is also a small area of missed glaze on one side and a bit of smudged transfer on the other. The photographs show each of the tiny frits which are hard to see with the naked eye, so you are seeing it at its worst and even that is pretty good. A lovely original unmarked piece, it measures 10" (256mm) x 7 1/4" (185mm) and as Spode have reproduced the pattern it makes identifying its maker nice and easy. I have seen this shape described as Coalport, but there is no doubt this is Spode.
