Rare early Carl Zeiss Jena artillery sight. Cursive writing dates it to pre-1904. Black textured paint has worn off the body. The black enamel paint and the engravings are in good condition. It measures approximately 3" x 2" and weighs 9 I/4 ozs. No visible damage to optics. Very clear view with crosshair. There are a few tiny specs of dirt on the lens with the crosshair. It is engraved: Carl Zeiss Jena 4 Fussartillerie The rugged solid brass construction with the precision workmanship are very impressive and certainly contributed to the longevity of this scope.
