‘John Yonge’ an original copper plate engraving John Yonge, (1589-1664), Irish Jesuit Head & shoulders, to right, looking to front. P. Ioannes Yongus Hibern. Societ : Iesu Obijt Romæ die 13 Iulij A ° . 1664 ætat. 75. A fine engraving which is bright and unfaded, with excellent detail and superb intaglio black ink lines. The image size measuring approximately 6 cms. x 9 cms. (21⁄2 x 31⁄2 ins.) within a fine platemark and impression, on an early wove paper, sheet size of 12 cms. x 17 cms. ( 5 x 61⁄2ins.)
