.70 smoothbore, 47" octagonal-to-round barrel with French proof marks on the left flat of barrel at breech. There is a large font size letter B marked in the lockplate behind the pan. Early style flintlock, flat hammer and lockplate, faceted pan, frizzen spring with a diamond shaped finial. Early style high-combed walnut stock with carving behind tang. Brass buttplate with engraving on the top, triggerguard, sideplate, and escutcheon behind tang. Condition: Barrel and lock has a nice brown patina mixed with some pitting. Stock has two contemporary bands made of tin holding the barrel to the stock. Stock has an old crack on both sides of stock approximately 23" from the breech. Nose cap is missing and a small piece of wood missing at the tip of stock. Stock more than likely cleaned many years ago. Brass mounts has a nice untouched patina.
