This L. S. Starrett No. 47 "Improved Bevel" is in excellent condition. It shows signs of use with very minute scratches and one or two dark spots, but it is over 100 years old! This is the scarce, diminutive 6 inch model with a 3.50 inch stock. The edges are sharp and clean as is the metal. T is no rust or pitting. The early "L. S. Starrett Co" logo is easily readable. The locking nut is original and functions perfectly. Because Starrett changed its name and logos in approximately 1896 from L. S. Starrett to "The L. S. Starrett" this bevel pre-dates 1896. The advantage of this bevel over others made was that not only is the blade slotted, so is the stock. This facilitated adjustments not capable on other bevels. Look closely at the sharp pictures and decide for yourself its value. An early, 6 inch and "L. S." only bevels are tough to find in this condition. Please note that I originally purchased most of my auction items for use . They can be old and may not be in perfect condition, so please ask any questions before bidding. All International bids MUST be paid with PayPal. Buyers pay all shipping charges and insurance if desired - and I strongly recommend insurance! If you choose not to insure the item, you assume all risk of loss/damage and it does happen! I ship stuff mostly USPS Priority Mail and do not charge a handling or packing fee using that service or any other methods given in the auction listing. Remember, items are shipped at buyer's risk, unless insurance is purchased. In other words, if you choose not to insure the item, you assume all risk of loss/damage. And for the third time, I am not responsible for broken or lost merchandise if the buyer does not purchase insurance. If you require any other shipping method, or the item is shipped Internationally - outside the US - I will charge you at cost for packing/shipping materials.
