Rare Mariano Fortuny "The Magician of Venice" printed silk velvet fragment probably from a grand robe, caftan or cape with the original round label, dating to the early 20thc. This piece originated out of Rothchild estate in Newport RI. has been in private collection for some time. At some earlier point in it's life it was backed in light pink fabric and the gold faille label sewn on the back of this lining, see images. Gold pigments printed with fifteenth century Venetian and Florentine pomegranate motifs on indigo blue and green velvet. In good not excellent condition with wear to the pile of the velvet thru out and one 1/4" 3 corner tear.
