AN EARLY ‘HIS MASTER’S VOICE’ PORTABLE 78RPM WIND-UP GRAMOPHONE WITH ‘HMV No.4’SOUNDBOX A superb and very early HMV wind-up Gramophone model complete with Soundbox and record tray. The iconic and now historic ‘Nipper’logo and the record tray are in Excellent condition. The nickel fittings (arm, used needle compartment and lid, turntable surround, speed control and manual brake) are also in Excellent condition with only light and general signs of age and use. The lacquered metal fittings, such as the corner protectors and the used needle compartment have largely lost their lacquer but the gramophone still looks elegant and has not lost its period charm. The ‘His Master’s Voice No.4’Soundbox is in superb condition with little wear or brassing. The turntable mat is the original with only minor signs of wear and is clean and dust free. The wooden turntable platform surround is also clean and free of scratches, holes or major dents. The winding handle is large and only lightly worn whilst the carry handle on the outer case is original although now with considerable signs of wear. The outer case has a few light marks and scuffs but certainly no serious damage or wear and nothing to detract from the superb overall appearance of this piece.
