This auction is for a Very Early Musket Bayonet Hand Marked VIII. The marking definately looks to be hand done. It is an old one. I am guessing .... Possibly from around the time of the Revolutionary War? I know nothing about Bayonetts but from research it appears to be an early one. Measurements are:The whole thing is 14 inches long. The Blade itself is 15/16 inches wide and 11 3/8 inches from tip to socket. long. The socket is 2 3/4 inches. Inside dia is 15/16 inches bottom and 13/16 inches top side towards blade. Outside dia 1 1/16 inch bottom and 1 inch top end towards blade. The pictures show the bayonet is bent a little. Looks as if it has not been sharpened. Overall in pretty good shape.Nice old Bayonet as found in the shop of a gentleman who collected many things. He was in his 80's when we first had the privledge to know him in depth. That was several years ago. We are just now going through many of his "goodies" and this is one of the items we found in an old suitcase stored in with many other gun parts. We have aquired many different gun parts that we will be selling periodically over the next few weeks so stay tuned. Currently we have other auctions for parts running at this time.NOTE: THESE ARE PARTS ONLY. THIS CAN NOT BE MADE INTO A FIRING GUN. NO SHIPPING FOR THESE ITEMS OUTSIDE USA.Good Luck and Enjoy your shoppingIf read more
