This hand painted set is beautiful! A man wearing a blue top, green trousers & brown hat who appears to be poling a gondola. T is a lit up town & buildings behind him. More than likely Venice.The rim is gold, handle has gold gilding line & no wear. Stunning colors used for the water. White, Pale yellow, blue & green. Backstamp: Noritake MADE IN JAPAN J.DESIGN PAT APPLIED FOR written in green. The mark used on items exported to the U.K. registered in London on 1908 & 1911 in Japan. Komaru(Maruki,Spider or Wheel) beginning in 1906-1908(Meiji 39-41) Size: Cup 3.1/4"=8.2cm diameter. 2.5"=6.5cm hight. Saucer 5.5"=14cm. Plate 5.3/4"=14.8cm. Cup & plate are mint condition, may never been used but saucer seems to have a very slight color fade.
