This is a 4 page ink fair condition letter from E. M. North at Chicago on May 2, 1867 to Robert McCaull in Union, IL. Letter discusses life in the big city 2 years after Lee's surrender; about taking patent medicines for various ailments; mention of many mutual friends; that James is well but "dreadful uneasy;" about friends starting for the East coast; about buying cloaks and a "bottle of spirits..." Letter has considerable wear and fold separations repaired with archival tape. Winner will be sent an E-Bay Invoice. By bidding you agree to pay within 14 days of auction close or a non-paying bidder alert will be filed with E-Bay. Payment: is by Money Orders, Personal Checks, PayPal, Bidpay.
