This is one of the most unusual rugs I have seen. I bought it from a dealer in Virginia about 12 years ago. It is very early, predates 20th century, and appears to be a one of a kind. It is a folkart design, that incorporates countryside, with deer, and different sizes of trees. The colors are faded, but still very vibrant for its age. The background is a light tan, with trees in green, brown, and orange. The deer are exquisit, and in natural colors. The weave of rug is a light weight wool, and the fringes feel like cotton. Most of the fringe is worn, but original. (I would not have the fringe replaced. The rug is beautiful as is.) It weighs approximately 12 lbs, and measures 73 1/2" x 47 1/2".
