is a really unusual item . It's a antique 19th century sterling silver vesta match safe that is fitted with an early lighter .Heavily and beautify hand engraved on both sides and monogrammed with a large S . I don't know if the lighter was made ( not much ) later for someone who was attached to his vesta or this is a transitional link between the match safe and the lighter .Perhaps one of the very first lighters ? It measures approx :1&1/2" by 1&1/4" . Condition is excellent .GOOD LUCK & HAPPY BIDDING !!!
