Hammered Silver & Lapis Jugendstil Brooch by� Theodor Fahrner� � Germany ~ Early 20th Century DESCRIPTION: Very rare hammered sterling silver (935) brooch, designed in the Jugendstil - Darmstadt style by German master jeweler,Theodor Fahrner. Signed with impressed marks on the back, “DEPOSE TF 935”This piece features a finely hammered, raised circular, shield-like form, with openwork, five silver rods dangling from the body, and a small lapis dark blue cabochon with the bezel held away from the body. When the wearer moves, the graceful silver rod extensions move from side to side on their ring hinges. These roda were made slightly bent to fit nicely against the lower circular wire section of the design.This brooch is a small masterpiece of design and workmanship from the Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Jugendstil era in Europe. Probably made about 1910 - 1920’s.
