This is a very rare 3.5" Ruby Glass Ball with fluted ribs. It looks to have the correct embossing on rim; it is faint, but you can make out "PAT JULY...77". This came out of my Grandparents Estate. He was an electrician and rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This was packed up in his barn with other items. Also, I sold the another of this type ball awhile back to a collector and he confirmed it authenticity. So, with all that, I'm confident that this is an original and not a reproduction. It is a beautiful piece: ruby glass, fluted ribs, no chips or cracks, and it has its metal caps. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks for your interest! Note on Shipping: I know this is expensive, but this includes UPS packing, shipping, and insuring item for $500.00. I could do it for much, much less via USPS, but I don't really trust myself packing such a rare and expensive item and if it gets broken in shipping, I don't want there to be any question that it was properly packed!
