Easton Press leather edition of Ernest Hemingway's "The Fifth Column and Four Stories of the Spanish Civil War," a COLLECTOR'S edition, one of the COLLECTED WORKS OF ERNEST HEMINGWAY series, published in 1990. Bound in chocolate brown leather, the book has camel tan French moire silk end leaves, hubbed spine, a satin book marker, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, gold gilding on three edges--- in FINE condition. Ernest Hemingway, who lived from 1899-1961, was born and reared in Oak Park, Illinois. Hemingway married Hadley Richardson and the couple lived in Paris, France, where they were friends with Gertrude Stein and Stein became the godmother to the Hem's son, Bumby. Hemingway divorced Hadley and married Pauline Pfeiffer, a rich heiress from Arkansas. He divorced her in 1940 and married Martha Gellhorn, and after the brief marriage ended, he married Mary Walsh. Stories include: "The Fifth Column," "The Denunciation," "The Butterfly and the Tank," "Night Before Battle," and "Under the Bridge."
