This beautiful antique is an operating Edison Standard Phonograph Cylinder Player. This Edison Standard Phonograph was sold from 1908 to 1911. This machine plays 2 minute cylinders only. This music box does work and clearly and accurately plays the cylinder music that is presently on the mandrel. This is a beauty. It comes with 6 cylinders of music, 4 blue amberol(4 minute) and 2 brown amberol(2 minute). This player is sold with a working crank(not the original) and a reproduction model of horn, 14" long and a horn of 7 " wide. This horn is in good condition. The base of the horn is a black enamel look, the end of the horn is another metal. The reproducer is a Model C sapphire model. There is no lid included for this item. The serial number for this Edison Standard Phonograph is #408513. The mandrel has a cylinder on it that plays clearly. I have not attempted to take this cylinder off because it is snugly on the mandrel, and I did not want to force it. This is a real beauty, the oak case is in fine shape, all mechanisms work are clean and lubricated and have been reconditioned, looks and sound flawless. This piece was purchased for $625.00 in 1993 in San Juan Capistrano from a professional antique phonograph reconditioner. It has only been played a very few times since its purchase in 1993. It looks and sounds really special. read more
