Up for auction is a pastel drawing by Edith Varian Cockroft. Subject is of a nude woman in the woods. Her hair is a red/brown color. There is glare in the photos because this drawing was sold with shrink wrap. I will try and take new photos without plastic over it so you can see without glare.The drawing measures 12.5" X 19" but it is on a piece of paer that is 25" X 19." The paper had been folded over at some point and was stored this way. When it was opened up-years later- the original drawing left a reverse image. I didn't cut it down; I will leave that to new buyer. I have another Cockroft, pastel nude up for sale in a separate auction and also some plates and a tile by the same artist. Please take a look!Condition: Very good condition except for a slight line, bottom right. The reverse image has a couple of spots, but you will be cutting that half away anyway.Edith Varian Cockcroft: (1881-1962) A painter in the modernist styles of her era, Edith Cockcroft was heavily influenced by Henri Matisse with whom she studied in Paris in 1898. She was born in Brooklyn to wealthy parents and lived in Allendale, New Jersey. In 1898, she went to France where she spent much time in the art colonies of Pont Aven and Concarneau.
