Original Kiyosada (1844 - 1901) Japanese Woodblock print Edo Theater Scene Kiyosada Torii (1844 - 1901)- A famous late Edo and early Meiji print maker specializing in theater prints, he did several theater series in the mid to late 19th century. Kiyosada's beautifully colored and rendered scenes of theater and actors in costume are designed in a style very much his own. Kiyosada was a native of Tokyo and father of the artist Torii Kiyotada who became famous in the theater print field in his own right. T was a respected family tradition in the woodblock print arts as Kiyotada was the adopted father of the great Torii Kotondo.
