Edward Abbey limited edition Broadside created to celebrate Confluence: A Celebration of Reading and Writing in Moab, 2008. Our first year festival was a celebration of the works of Edward Abbey. 100 copies of the broadside were printed and signed by the three surviving members of the Monkey Wrench Gang, Abbey's most famous novel. While many rumors float about as to w Abbey got his inspiration for the characters in the Monkey Wrench Gang, most close friends of Ed's (including his widow Clarke Abbey) state that Seldom Seen Smith is Ken Sleight, Hayduke is Doug Peacock, and Bonnie Abbzug is Ingrid Eisenstadter. Doc was probably Ed himself. Ken, Doug and Ingrid have all signed the artwork with their real name followed by their ficticious Monkey Wrench Gang name. According to Doug Peacock, never have the three Monkey Wrenchers signed anything as a group which makes this a wonderful collectible for Abbey fans. The broadside was designed by Dave Jenney in Flagstaff, AZ, art work by Peg Dougherty at Pack Creek Ranch, Moab, Ut and printed by DCArts Press in Denver, Co. The limitation is 100 pieces.
